What is Elimination Mode?

Elimination Mode is a tournament-style mode where rounds continue iteratively until either all imposters are caught (Civilian win), or the imposters survive long enough to strictly outnumber the civilians (Imposter win). Eliminated players continue spectating the game.

How do you win as an Imposter?

Imposters win by blending in with the civilians and surviving the voting rounds. You can earn bonus points for surviving rounds, outlasting Civilians, causing confusion, and get a 'Perfect Stealth' bonus if you receive zero votes.

How does voting work in Imposter Out?

After the communication phase, all players vote simultaneously. In Standard Mode, each player votes for the number of imposters set by the host (default: 1). In Elimination Mode, each player votes for exactly 1 player. A server-enforced 45-second voting timer automatically resolves the phase. The first 33% of players to submit their votes receive a Fast-Voter speed bonus. Ties result in no elimination.

What are Emergency Actions?

Emergency Actions allow players to collaboratively initiate majority-vote (>50%) actions during the game. This includes Emergency Voting (skip current turns and proceed directly to voting), Emergency New Round (immediately start a new round), and Vote Kicking (removes players and applies a 10-minute rejoin cooldown).

What is Draw Mode in Imposter Out?

In Draw Mode, players take turns sketching a clue about their secret word on a shared digital canvas. The canvas supports single-touch drawing, multi-touch, color bucket fill, and undo. The host can configure whether the canvas clears between rounds or carries over (persists) across them.

Can I play in different languages?

Yes! Imposter Out features massive global reach, supporting up to 23 localized languages spanning Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Can I play Imposter Out offline or in person?

Yes! Use Discuss Mode for in-person parties — players talk freely during their turn instead of typing or drawing in-app. Everyone still needs a device for role assignment and voting, but the actual clue-giving is done verbally. This makes it perfect for local gatherings without needing a screen between every player.

How many rounds are in a session?

A session is limited to 3 games per room (for both public and private rooms). Once the session limit is reached, the overall tournament winner is declared based on accumulated scores. The host can start a new tournament, which resets the session counter and all player total scores to zero.

What happens if my internet disconnects?

The server provides platform-dependent grace periods. Web browser players have a 6-second window to reconnect, while mobile app players get a 30-second window to handle app backgrounding or phone calls. Reconnecting within this window fully preserves your active role, score, and state. If the grace period expires, you are permanently removed from the room.

What moderation controls does the host have?

The host can manage room settings, reassign host control, and moderate players. The host can kick players (triggering a 3-minute rejoin cooldown) or permanently ban a player's device ID and IP address for the room session.

Core Concept

Imposter Out is a multiplayer social deduction party game for 3 or more players. At the start of a round, players are secretly assigned a word. However, the Imposters receive either a slightly different word or no word at all! Through rounds of communication, Civilians must identify the Imposters, while Imposters must blend in or survive until the end.

Game Phases

1. Lobby Phase

Players gather, select their avatars, and the host finalizes settings. Public rooms feature auto-readying and auto-start mechanics.

2. Playing Phase

Words and roles are assigned. Players take turns giving clues based on the chosen Communication Mode. The game auto-advances based on turn timers.

3. Voting Phase

Players vote on who they suspect is the Imposter. Quick voters get bonus points! You can change your vote before the timer runs out.

4. Results Phase

Votes are revealed, scores are calculated dynamically, and the true roles and words are unveiled to everyone.
